Time Flies
Teaching is a wonderful profession, and I have had the privilege to teach for 33.4 years. December 21, 2012 will be my last day. I have decided to retire.
Thank you to all the students, parents and staff I have worked with over these years. It really does take a community to raise our students!
All the best in the future. I hope I will see you in the community soon!
Sincerely
Mrs. Thompson
PS Please give a big Cameron Street welcome to Mrs. Shea who will be in Cameron Street library in January 2013.

New Canadian Author Books Have Arrived
The "Tree Program Books" have arrived at Cameron Street Library. They have been entered into TLC, our computer software and we are collecting names of students who will be involved in reading these wonderful Canadian Authored books! Students must read a minimum of 5 books in their category to qualify for voting. Student votes are collected from across Ontario, tallied, and awards are given to the authors in a celebration in Toronto in April.
Blue Spruce books are for JK to grade 2 students, Silver Birch Express for grade 3-4 students, Silver Birch Fiction and Non-Fiction grades 5-6 and Red Maple Fiction and Non-Fiction for grades 7-8. Happy Reading!
Our Speak Off is slated for Cameron's Gym the last week in January. Writing and preparations of speeches and presentation of them build skills necessary for life. Best of luck to all our grade 4 to 8 students as they work on their speech.

Cameron Book Fair Report
Thanks to our many volunteers who made our Cameron Street Scholastic Book Fair successful this year! A special thanks to Ashley, Kyra, Owen, Ryan, and Marissa who came back from CCI to lend a hand. Also a big thanks to my parent volunteer Mrs. Mueller who came every after school time and during the PA Day morning to assist us with the fair. Thanks too goes out to our library helper team who gave up recess times to help too. Some on our team were: Meghan, Riley, Amanda, Adara and Adia. Sorry if I missed your name...but recesses were busy times!
Our sales were down this year which would have meant($508.52 to be spent on library books)or (35% of the $ value in books sold.)
After adding money from my basic library budget, we reached the (60% level)and as a result $932.16 worth in books for our library.
Lucky book winners Cameron in Mrs. Hutchinson's class, Ashley in Mrs. Hammond's class, Adara in Mrs. Colbourne's class, and the $25 worth of books each were Kate and Mrs. Sturch.
Thanks to the staff and families who were able to buy books at the Scholastic Book Fair last week. Your support for your child and school are very much appreciated.

Busy Week At Cameron Street
Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Welcome
Welcome back to our returning families and welcome to our new families! We are looking forward to a busy year. Students will be signing out new library books during the first five day schedule. All students are encouraged to READ the books they sign out and return them to exchange for a new one when they are finished. There will be daily sign in and out times for books (grade 3/4 to 8) so READ, READ, READ!
Our primary students will be bringing home a new book each week. Please enjoy reading it with, to and by your child. Return library books on designated library days for a new one.
We have Big Kids Entertainment(live theater) coming this month thanks to our School Council, and Jane and Nelly from the Kindness Programme (free of charge to us) coming to teach us about kindness to animals. Also, due to the Aviva taping on Thursday, September 27th our Annual Fall Usborne Books Literacy Fair/ Meet the Teacher Evening – Cameron Street Public School – Collingwood has been cancelled.
Claire, a grade 3 student at our school, chose to have donations to our Cameron Library as one of her wishes, instead of birthday gifts at her summer party. As a result we have several new Thea Stilton Books to add to our collection. A BIG THANK YOU to Clair and her birthday guests.
These are only a few of the exciting events planned for our Cameron Students.
Get active and involved! There are lots of great opportunities for you!
Let the 2012 school year begin!
